Dr. Margaret McMenamin

Dr. Margaret McMenamin has been President of Union County College (NJ) since July 1, 2010. Prior to this, McMenamin served for five years as executive vice president for educational services of Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey. From November 2009 through March 2010 she served as acting president at Brookdale.

Dr. McMenamin was born in New York City and attended Jackson (NJ) Memorial High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science cum laude in physical therapy from Temple University, a Master of Science from the University of Scranton, and Doctorate in educational leadership from Lehigh University. Dr. McMenamin worked as a physical therapist at Moss Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. In 1984, she began teaching as an instructor of physical therapy at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania and rose to full professor and coordinator of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. She served as interim dean of allied health and social science, dean of faculty, and vice president of academic and student affairs at Lehigh Carbon. Dr. McMenamin has served for the past five years as executive vice president of education services at Brookdale. In that role, she has been a change agent leading the Educational Services Division through a major transitional period. She has successfully re-energized this innovative institution and led faculty and academic administrators through a transformational process of restructuring academic leadership, resolving long standing support staff conflict, developing an agile academic master plan, and operationalizing the concepts of enrollment management.

Dr. McMenamin has served as an adjunct professor of education at Rowan University, associate consultant for Noel-Levitz, Inc. and Middle States Site Visitor. She is actively involved in numerous community and civic organizations, including serving as a board member of UCEDC (Union, NJ), Salvation Army (Plainfield, NJ), and Trinitas Health (Elizabeth, NJ). From 1987 through 2002, she was the assistant basketball coach at Allentown (PA) Central Catholic High School.
